South American Supernovae - SAS2016

La Plata - May 4-6 2016

The SAS2016 Workshop

This is the second edition of the workshop on supernovae that intends to gather researchers in the field from institutions located in South America. The first edition was held in Santiago, Chile, in April 2015. The event, organized by Joseph Anderson with support from the Millennium Institute for Astrophysics (MAS) and the European Southern Observatory (ESO), gathered over 30 participants, including faculty, postdocs and graduate students from several institutions in Chile, Argentina and Japan. After such a successful experience, it was decided to continue these collaboration meetings with a yearly basis.

Organization

The 2016 version will be held during three days in the first week of May at the site of the Instituto de Astrofísica de La Plata (IALP) and the Facultad de Ciencias Astronómicas y Geofísicas (FCAGLP) of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Locally, the organization will be done by the Stellar Evolution and Supernovae group. The workshop is supported by the MAS and the FCAGLP.
